Wonderful speakers, impressive information, and outstanding subject matter will be the hallmark of the LLLI Conference, 50 Years -- Celebrating the Power of Breastfeeding, on July 20-23, 2007 in Chicago, Illinois, USA. In addition to breastfeeding topics, many speakers will address parenting questions and concerns.
Best-selling author, speaker, and licensed parent educator Mary Sheedy Kurcinka ponders, "It is estimated that 60 percent of American children, from infants to teens, are wired, too exhausted to behave well, and unable to sleep. Could your child be one of them?" At her session, "Sleepless in America," Kurcinka will help parents learn to identify the everyday decisions that may be inadvertently disrupting their child's sleep. Participants will leave the session equipped with practical strategies to help families get the sleep they need.
Mary Sheedy Kurcinka will also be speaking at a second session, "Raising Your Spirited Child: A Guide for Parents Whose Child is More Intense, Sensitive, Perceptive, Persistent, Energetic." Conference attendees will leave the presentation with a plan for success and a better understanding of their own and their child's temperamental traits. Parents will be more able to cope with tantrums and will learn how to develop strategies for handling mealtimes, bedtimes, holidays, school, and many other situations.
Another parenting expert, Char Wenc, author of two internationally recognized books, will share her wisdom, humor, and great information with Conference attendees at her sessions, "I Love You and the Answer is No" and "Teaching Our Children to Be Respectful in a Very Rude World." In addition to 25 years as a professional speaker, she has a masters degree in counseling and has been a clinical counselor, educational consultant, and professional coach. Wenc's life-changing talks have enabled parents to learn to enjoy the lifetime profession called parenting. She offers answers for parents who feel exhausted from dealing with their children on a daily basis.
